How are the tanks cleaned? The Orbit Float system empties the solution after every float. This is then filtrated and cleaned for use in the next session. During the changeover, the tanks will, through our unique pump and filtration system, be treated with UV light to sanitise the water. There is also residual Hydrogen Peroxide for supplementary sanitisation and oxidation. Then the tank is automatically skim cleaned and the high content of Epsom salt like the Dead Sea, means nothing harmful can survive in the water.

What do I need to bring? We recommend bringing a lens box if you wear contact lenses . We will supply fresh towels, shower gel, shampoo and conditioner plus wax ear plugs if you wish to wear them in float. You must remove all jewellery and turn off mobile phones and devices before floating. There is a pamper area next to our relaxation room where you can dry your hair and then chill out with a refreshing drink after floating.

What if I fall asleep? It is very common to drift off into sleep when you are floating. It’s good for you, and helps the body to relax and absorb salts. There is so much good epsom salt in the Orbit tank that your buoyancy won’t change. The worst that could happen is a little salt water on your face.

Can I come with a friend and float? We certainly recommend coming along with a partner or friend so you can both enjoy and discuss your floatation sensation. We have three tanks for individuals at The Glasgow Float Centre and bookings can be made for sessions at the same time. For larger bookings or for more details please drop us and email or give us a call.

What do I need to remember before my float? You must remember to read and complete our online form; this will tell you all you need to know and helps us provide a more personal experience. If you have dyed your hair and the water in your shower is not running clear, had a fake tan within the previous two weeks or a tattoo / piercing in the previous four to six weeks, we cannot allow you to float. Please bear in mind that floating is a physical and mental detox where we hope that you will feel detached from all external stimuli and relax, so we would advise not to drink coffee or tea beforehand as the caffeine can block the relaxation. We’d also recommend not shaving before your float as the salts can sting a little on open pores and take your mind off the sensation. Being quiet, relaxed and turning off mobile phones in the centre is a gift for you. Turn up, turn off, Tune out!

Can I leave the lid open?We certainly encourage the full sensory isolation experience with lid down silence and darkness, but of course if you wish to leave the lid open and enjoy the float with gentle music and light, you can do so too...Whatever floats your boat!

How often should I float? It really depends on what benefits your seeking. For quick remedy from physical injuries, we would discuss a plan of sessions with you and with our membership packs you can have as many floats as you want. We would always recommend giving yourself at least four days between sessions so you can feel the change in the mind and body, then feel the benefits again when you come next.

Can I float if I’m pregnant? The answer is yes of course. Floating was made for pregnant women. Lie back and take that weight off mind and body for a full 60-minutes. It’s fantastic therapy for the baby and for you! If you have any health concerns, we would recommend speaking with your doctor first, but the relaxation, lowering of blood pressure and relieving tired limbs is magical for the mum-to-be.
